Olivia's 2/3 Year Old Preschool Year

Olivia completed her first year of preschool.  This is what her teacher had to say on her report card:
"Olivia likes to play with her friends but also lies to spend time reading by herself or working on puzzles.  She loves circle time and likes singing songs.  She us such a great helper and loves to demonstrate art for others.  She is so good at art.  She can't wait to do her art project and takes so much time to have it just right."

Her teacher has told me several times that Olivia is a great artist.  She does spend a lot of time painting and coloring at home.  She draws little details and takes her time with each mark.  She does a great job of staying in the lines with coloring.

Olivia rarely wants to spend time alone at home.  She likes for me to be with her while she plays.  Sometimes her and Ava will go upstairs and play for an extended period of time.

"Olivia loves helping her friends and is such a good cheerleader to all!  She compliments her friends and tells them 'good job' when they attempt various skills."

This does not surprise me, as I Ava is quick to be sympathetic when kids are sad or encouraging to other kids.  I love hearing her say, "You can do it." or "it's okay."

I am so proud of my sweet three year older!!

Ava's Pedicure

Ava had her first pedicure date with mommy this month.  She had technically had one pedicure before while she was on a date with her daddy.  He just stopped in at a salon and didn't realize it was kind of a milestone to me.  It was okay thought.  I just love that he takes her on dates.

We also went to the mall and did her back to school shopping

Doubting God

If you asked me my biggest struggle in my walk as a Christian woman, I would say doubting God.

I know He created me, He loves me, He sent his son to die for me.........I just don't understand all the bad things in this world.  That is when I begin to question my Faith.  I wonder how can this great God that loves me so much allow his people to hurt so much.

"Never doubt in the dark what God told you in the light." - Victor Raymond Edman

Many Christians doubt.  It is easy to doubt God when we are hurting, but we must turn and focus on just how good He is.  He has a great plan for our lives.  Our greatest blessings will come out of those pains and hurts.

Jesus tells us we usually won't see until we believe.
"Stop doubting and believe."........John 20:27

Jesus didn't didn't tell Thomas why he shouldn't doubt....He just said, "Stop doubting and believe."

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your pats.  Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.  It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones."  Proverbs 3:5-8

Ava's Hour......

Ava starts kindergarten this fall.......insert me sobbing.  I am so excited for her, but she has been my sidekick for the last six years.  She did go to preschool, but other than that, she is always with me.

I decided to make our last summer before school starts meaningful, so while Olivia is napping, we have "Ava's Hour."  She gets to pick anything she wants to do with me for one hour.  She usually picks painting or play do or a board game or even watching a movie.  It isn't about the activity.  It is about her having my undivided attention for one hour.

I'm not sure who enjoys it more, her or me.  It is honestly one of my favorite times of the day.  We miss it some days, but if we are home, Ava never forgets.  I would way rather spend an hour with her than one more hour chatting on the phone or folding laundry.

I am going to implement "Olivia's Hour" once Ava starts kindergarten in the Fall.

Ava's 6th Birthday

Ava celebrated turning 6 with a Littlest Pet Shop party at our house with only her preschool classmates.  I gave her the option to invite more people, but she insisted that she wanted an all girls party with only her classmates.  So, that is what we did.  One little boy came, because he was the twin of one of the girls and he is the only boy in her class.

We also had a celebration with a few of her closest buddies.   These kids are almost like cousins to us, so we couldn't let a birthday pass by without having them there!
